Entering its second year with the latest design, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia stands tall as a robust and stylish full-size SUV, setting itself apart from the crossover crowd by sharing its foundation with the Toyota Tundra full-size truck. This commonality grants the Sequoia a solid frame, a range of suspension choices, and ample power beneath the hood. While the V8 engine is no longer available, the standard twin-turbo V6 produces an impressive 437 horsepower while maintaining competitive fuel efficiency. Embracing a hybrid system, the Sequoia incorporates an electric motor that delivers an additional surge of torque, palpable in your driving experience. Handling gear shifts is a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission, while four-wheel-drive models boast a two-speed transfer case for enhanced control during slow-speed off-road adventures. For those seeking even greater off-road prowess, the TRD Off-Road package is available, while the TRD Pro version elevates the experience further with a fully retuned suspension, slow-speed crawl control, and rugged off-road tires.

The interior of the Sequoia is practical and comfortable across lower trim levels. The flagship Capstone trim exudes luxury with its leather seats and authentic wood trim. All Sequoia variants feature three rows of seating, with higher-level trims offering second-row captain’s chairs in lieu of a bench seat. The Sequoia benefits from Toyota’s latest infotainment technology, boasting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The cabin centerpiece is a 14-inch display screen that comes standard on all but the base SR5 trim. Safety remains paramount, with all Sequoia models equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety technologies, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot assist.

While the Chevrolet Tahoe boasts a lower price point, it lacks a hybrid engine. The Ford Expedition also offers a lower starting price, while the Nissan Armada is another budget-friendly alternative, albeit with a less attractive interior and a less refined ride. The 2024 Toyota Sequoia competes in a niche category of full-size SUVs that excel in versatility. Following a complete redesign last year, the Sequoia has emerged as a modern, luxurious, and tech-savvy option. Notable rivals include the Ford Expedition, which shares a turbocharged V6 engine, three rows of seating, and multiple trim levels, as well as the Chevrolet Tahoe with its spacious interior, abundant features, and available V8 power. The Nissan Armada rounds out the competition, offering V8 performance, a comfortable cabin, and impressive towing capabilities.

The 2024 Sequoia introduces two notable changes. Platinum trim models equipped with four-wheel drive can now opt for the TRD Off-Road package. Additionally, a new Nightshade package, featuring dark exterior accents, is available for the Limited trim level. Following last year’s comprehensive redesign, the Toyota Sequoia continues to assert itself as a formidable full-size SUV, combining strong performance, cutting-edge technology, and a highly functional interior, making it an exceptional choice for families seeking a versatile all-around vehicle.
