Kia’s lineup of small and compact crossover/hatchbacks, including the Soul, Niro, Sportage, and Seltos, can be a bit perplexing. However, think of the Seltos as the bridge between the funky, boxy styling of the Soul and the more mature, compact Sportage. While technically a subcompact, the Seltos aims higher.

This five-passenger vehicle offers a spacious interior, impressive cargo capacity, and a fuel-efficient engine, all wrapped in a stylish package with vibrant paint options like Pluton Blue or Valais Green. Although the base engine leaves something to be desired, the optional turbocharged four-cylinder, boasting nearly 200 horsepower, adds excitement to the Seltos. In 2024, Kia introduces an eight-speed transmission, additional safety features, and the new X-Line trim package, which we consider the standout choice.

While these updates might not elevate the Seltos to the top tier of small crossovers, they certainly give it an edge. The Mazda CX-30 may offer fun and inspiration, but it falls short in cargo space compared to the Seltos, which boasts one of the most accommodating cargo areas in its class, rivaling the Volkswagen Taos. With generous cargo room, impressive fuel efficiency, and the option for more power, the Kia Seltos emerges as a compact and stylish contender.

In 2024, the Kia Seltos enhances its visual appeal with revised exterior styling, including a new grille, wheel designs, and front accent lighting. The optional turbocharged engine receives a power boost, and a new eight-speed transmission is introduced. Upgraded safety features and the addition of the X-Line trim level with distinctive styling and 18-inch wheels further enhance the Seltos’ offerings.
