The Kia K5 made its debut in 2021, replacing the Optima, and it certainly had big shoes to fill. However, it succeeded admirably. Its sharp exterior design set it apart in the midsize sedan class, and its performance lived up to expectations.
For 2024, the K5 remains almost unchanged, with a minor update: heated seats are now included in the GT-Line trim. This doesn’t diminish its appeal, as the K5 already stands out in its class, even compared to the recently redesigned Honda Accord.
What sets the 2024 K5 apart is its attractive pricing, sporty appearance, and the rare option of all-wheel drive in this segment. With a spacious trunk and roomy seating, it offers an excellent overall package. The only drawback is the absence of a hybrid version, which would have competed with the more fuel-efficient Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Toyota Camry.
Despite this missing hybrid option, the 2024 K5 remains our top choice in its class, fulfilling all the expectations of a midsize sedan and then some. It’s a standout vehicle, and the addition of a hybrid variant would likely make it unbeatable. In terms of changes for 2024, the Kia K5 largely carries over from the previous year, with the inclusion of heated front seats in the GT-Line trim being the only notable update.
