When the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV made its debut in the early 1990s, it created quite a stir as a luxurious rendition of the rugged Cherokee, all while retaining its off-road prowess. Fast forward thirty years, and the fifth-generation 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee carries on this legacy with a healthy infusion of modern technology.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee stands out for its impressive versatility. It offers the choice of two or three rows of seats, with the three-row Grand Cherokee L version stretching an additional 11.4 inches compared to the standard model, providing more legroom for passengers in the third row. Furthermore, buyers have the option of selecting from a capable V6 engine, a powerful V8, or an eco-friendly plug-in hybrid variant known as the 4xe (pronounced four-by-e). Couple this with a luxurious interior housing the latest tech features, and the Grand Cherokee emerges as a highly appealing choice in a fiercely competitive segment.

However, this comprehensive package does come at a slightly higher cost compared to its main competitors. The Kia Telluride remains a segment leader thanks to its lower price point and intelligent design. The popular Toyota Highlander earns praise for its fuel-efficient hybrid model but falls short in terms of interior quality. For family-oriented buyers, the recently redesigned Honda Pilot, along with the refreshed Passport, which is due this year, are solid options. At the upper echelon, the Land Rover Defender, albeit expensive, rivals or surpasses the Jeep in terms of luxury and off-road capabilities.

If your SUV adventures often venture off the beaten path, the Jeep Grand Cherokee provides a comfortable and refined means to do so, backed by a unique blend of features that few SUVs can match.
